The MSA Bristol X4 Firefighting Protective Clothing is designed to ergonomically fit the wearer, reduce bulk throughout the garment, and minimize the weight carried by the firefighter. It does this while incorporating unique safety features such as the integrated rescue sling and DRD system. Premium comfort for structural firefighting developed with the end users to fit purpose.

  • Integrated DRD System accessible at the upper back of a coat and integrated into the trousers at the knee - to allow a downed firefighter to be carried in an emergency situation.
  • Integrated Rescue Sling (consisting of integrated belt, lanyard, and carabiner) for added safety when working at heights. Access can be hidden beneath the closure flap, while click closure system can be operated also when wearing gloves. Side pockets make the system accessible when zipper and flap is closed.

  • Integrated DRD (Drag Rescue Device) System - Firefighter rescue device used to drag a downed firefighter to safety - accessible at the upper back of a coat
  • Integrated Rescue Sling - Rescue belt for added safety when working at heights. Lanyard and carabiner to tie-off to prevent falls. Can be hidden beneath the closure flap and operated when wearing gloves. the system accessible when zipper and flap is closed.
  • Shoulder - Pleat in the shoulder allows for added range of motion when reaching
  • Articulated elbow - Ergonomic three dimensional articulated elbow enables a natural, less restrictive range of motion.
  • Enhanced Elbow Pad - Streamlined elbow pad provides protection without inhibiting movement or adding bulk.
  • Shoulder Pad - Added padding at the shoulder and upper back for comfort while wearing an SCBA
  • Wrist Adjusters - Allow for a customized fit at the wrist
  • Notch at the hemline on both sides of the body - Allows for better comfort when moving and climbing, reduces ride-up
  • Radio pocket - Pocket with adjustable cradles and radio hook accommodates multiple radio models and sizes. Hook to prevent radio from falling out while moving. Integrated flashlight holder.
X4 Trousers
  • Integrated DRD System - Integrated into the trouser at the knee. The DRD stays stowed when not is use. Deploys a DRD that loops around the knee to allow a downed firefighter to be carried in an emergency situation.

  • Side pocket with thru-pocket - Allows access to the station wear and pockets

  • Slimmer fit - Enhanced, slimmer fit through the thigh allows for better comfort and a trimmer, modern fit that does not restrict motion
  • Enhanced knee Pad - Streamlined knee pad to provide protection without inhibiting movement or adding bulk
  • Leg opening with gusset - Allows easier donning and doffing, as well as changing of shoes while wearing the trousers. Adjustability allows a customized fit to minimize the exposed leg opening.
  • Tapered tool pocket - Dedicated storage of door keys or other small tools
  • Reverse, Reinforced Boot Cut - Avoids wear and tear on the back bottom of the legs

  • Antistatic Grab-Tabs on all pockets
  • 3M Comfort Trim - Segmented, more breathable trim that does not restrict mobility. Tested for durability to 50 washes
  • Inspection opening - At the waist on the trouser, back hem of the coat. Allows for full inspection and repair of the moisture barrier
  • Washing Label - Provides easy, integrated tracking of garment launderings
